Brent Richards joins Rob Oliver to give a patient’s perspective on healthcare on this episode of the Perspectives on Healthcare podcast. Brent is a Baby Boomer from Maryland. His interview took place during the world record setting patient interview marathon. It is interview 47. Just to put that in context, I had been interviewing guests for 12 hours and 45 minutes without a break when this interview started. Hopefully, you find value in hearing Brent’s perspective.
Here are 3 things that stood out as Brent Richards gave us a patient’s perspective on healthcare:
- Quality healthcare is more than solely addressing symptoms. It is adopting a holistic approach that includes medical treatment, nutrition, and identifying the root cause of health issues.
- By taking a problem-solving approach, medical professionals will be honest, detailed, and proactive in finding solutions to the underlying cause of the patient’s issue.
- Patients need to be engaged and proactive in their own care: understanding their own body, self-monitoring, undergoing regular checkups and being aware of their diet and physical activities.
